1779 Naval Cannon Scale Model
by John
It is almost 2 months ago that I started this model.
I thought that it would take 3 or 4 days!
Anyway, here it is.
It will look interesting on the mantelpiece.

Note the hinge and square bolts and keys on the trunnion straps.

A good view of the elevating apparatus, the quoin.

A trunnion, trunnion band, trunnion bolts and key.

Powder pan and touch hole.

The underbelly

It goes on display at the Geelong Wooden Boats Show next weekend.
Exquisite! Are you going to make some cannonballs and try it out?

Not really feasible in Oz, due to our strict firearms laws. But thanks for the compliment. John.

A magnificent piece of work. I hope SWMBO will appreciate it on the mantle.

Hmm. Tolerate rather than appreciate I suspect.

Hi John, I adore this project! The cannon is simply stunning! Dabbling in machining myself, I know the brass to make this beauty would not have come cheap!
Would you ever consider allowing outsiders to see it? Would love to pick your brain and learn a thing or 20!
Either way, please never stop making beautiful things
Cheers
Clayton
