Bolton 7

For reader Timothy, I hope that these photos answer your query.
The Bolton7 was my first attempt at engine building. As you can see, the finish leaves a lot to be desired.

Thanks John. Yes they do answer my question and thanks so much for taking the time. I can see how far you went by the amount turned off the bolting face where it meets the bed plate. I was worried that shortening the bolting face would interfere with the bed plate mounting holes. I’ll keep a close watch now that I’ve smelled the danger. Oh and I can see the packing under the cylinder which you mentioned previously. So nice to collaborate a little on this project. Thanks again. Tim

John I think I have caught an on line infection of the lathe virus from which you suffer. By complete chance I came across a JEN-SON lathe made in Lane Cove (Sydney) probably in the 1920s 30s. Lathes.uk has a good article on it To add to their description there is a metal plate giving the street address of its manufacture. Restoration coming up. Cheers Tim

John thanks for the invitation to post pics. I would like to but even with the help of one half my age I can’t find a way to do so.
We found the gsmee but no obvious way to post pics to you.
Life used to be so simple.
Many Cheers Tim

Hi John,
Thanks for inviting me to post pics of the JEN-SON lathe.
My lack of computer skills means I’m having trouble doing so.
Even my written replies to your invitation (using my phone) are not showing up here.
I have been assisted by one half my age but perhaps I should find someone 1/4 my age…there are plenty around!
Don’t think me unappreciative as I have tried.

I understand Tim. I get help from my children and if they don’t know I ask my grandchildren. If you email your pics to jviggers@iinet.net.au I should be ablt to post them on your behalf. John.
