Beware of Greeks Bearing Gifts
Well, this one is OK because it came from a Hollander.
One of my blog readers, Huib, decided that I would be the recipient of some of his workshop items which he says were surplus. This was as a thank you for johnsmachines.com.
So, a parcel arrived yesterday, and after a quick look inside, I decided to make a video of opening the items, and showing you. It was great fun for me, and I hope that it will be entertaining for you. It is the biggest file which I have uploaded, so give it a few minutes to open.
Oh, any other readers who would like to send me surplus tools or other interesting bits and pieces…. please feel free. If Haas, or Hardinge would like a review on one of their machines please send it and I would be happy to do a review.
Merry Christmas John!
Best Christmas present ever!
Belated response John I got side tracked with a few other things. It was a lovely gesture from Huib sending the items to you. I can just imagine the thrill of opening up the surprise boxes to see what each one contained. Some very handy items for the workshop.
It was. But I am not so sure for others.
Those are thoughtful precision gifts which will you will put to good use, I’m sure.
Great realignment job on your burner assembly. I’m not expert when it comes to such small burners, so I’m following your experiments closely. I’m sure you have gotten lots of advice and I’m not sure mine will be of any help, but I think you ought to seal up the holes you drilled to allow more air into the combustion chamber or make an adjustable secondary air draft.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t clearly hear your voice enough over the sound of the burner in that video. Maybe you don’t need to run it during during the whole time you are talking.
Hi Richard. I have tried blocking those end holes and that does not seem to make much difference. Sorry about the voice issue. It was not worth listening to anyway. But I realise that it would have been annoying.
Hello John, Could you please email a copy of the gift opening video. This being the first blog watched I thought it was due to my inexperience
or dumbness that I couldn’t find it whilst skimming the history for jems. Now with a more relaxed read, it is clear that you removed it to save space.
